History of Assaults
Since the onset of the large-scale conflict in Ukraine, a string of Russian military officials have been targeted within Moscow.
This latest event follows other high-profile incidents, such as:
- General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
- General Igor Kirillov was killed in late 2024 when a bomb hidden on a scooter was triggered from afar.
While a informant in the past attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely formally acknowledged as a matter of standard practice.
Hostilities has increasingly seen clandestine operations extending into the heart of the Russian capital.
The probe into General Sarvarov's death continues to be ongoing.
