'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Relatives of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek Answers After Ski Resort Inferno

The relatives of teenagers unaccounted for after a tragic fire at a bar in a Switzerland's ski resort are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for information about their loved ones online.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of January 1st. Circulated video depict the ceiling catching alight as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the those who perished of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and injured another scores more. A spokesperson noted on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with the process ongoing to identify the remaining few.

In the interim, relatives have been taking to the internet to plead for information about their loved ones who were at the bar that night.

Desperate Searches for the Unaccounted For

The fate of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are still unconfirmed, according to an heartfelt request from his family.

The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in Bern, but was unsuccessful.

"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's horrific," she said.

She continued that some of his companions had been found with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian foreign ministry has said that six of its nationals have not been located.

"A companion informed me they ran away after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators stated, "I've always been struck by his kindness and positive demeanor, alongside great responsibility. He would frequently offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her brother has published an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
